Rie Murakawa

Nyaa-tan (にゃ~たん?) is the titular heroine of the Etotama series. Her goal is to become one of the twelve Zodiac Gods, and she tries various ways to become a member.

She then meets Takeru Amato, a high school student who lives alone in Akihabara, and ends up living in his house.

Nyaa-tan has medium length, straight light brown hair, and brown-goldish eyes. She accessorizes her hair with a big yellow ribbon at the back and an upside down yellow star with a happy face on it on the side of her hair. Her clothing consist of a collar that comes with a golden bell, a white shirt with a sailor-like blue ribbon/necktie and a slightly darker blue skirt with another huge ribbon behind it.

She also wears blue and white cuffs around her wrists and brown shoes that come with knee-length blue and white stockings with flowers on the side, one properly on a leg, the other seems to be below the knee. Like all the other Zodiac Girls, Nyaa-tan also has two ears - cat ears in her case, and a thin, white tail.

Personality Edit

"A natural fool with an innocent personality that does not give up."

Nyaa-tan is a very bright and cheerful and kind girl and also quite childish, which explains why she often says jokes and plays around. She can, however, be shy sometimes and is a sort-of-an airhead, so Takeru has to watch over her. She is very mischievous, and is not serious, and enjoys fooling around, mostly with Inu-tan and Ki-tan. However, she is very caring about her friends.

When she finds something she wants to do, she doesn't stop until she has reached it, and she is always going straight towards the goal she's aiming for, like becoming a zodiac. She does everything to get a Sol/Lull seal. She can also be a little lazy and tries to get one without any effort. Nyaa-tan has also shown to be strong when it comes down to fighting.

Cat Gun Edit

Cat Gun (猫の銃 Neko no jū?) is Nyaa-tan's special attack. It's not a gun, but more like a laser with cat palm on it. It is used in the second episode, against Mo-tan.

Cat Machine Gun Edit

Cat Machine gun (猫のマシンガン Catto Mashingun?) in another special attack by Nyaa-tan. Nyaa-tan's feet glow at first, and she starts spinning like a tornado. It is used against Chu-tan, in episode 12.

Kagura SenguuEdit

Kagura Senguu, or Etotama Kagura Senguu is a special technique that Nyaa-tan learned. It is unknown when she learned it, but it's before Chu-tan. It's actually a forbidden ritual that only gods can perform. It was used against Chu-tan, in episode 12.

Background Edit

What is known about Nyaa-tan's past is that she always wanted to be a member of the zodiac gods. Before she lost her memories, she was seen to travel quite a lot but still had a good relationship with all the zodiac gods, Chu-tan included. Somewhere during that time, Chu-tan got ahold of Nyaa-tan's Etotama in her hand, but since Nyaa-tan's Etotama was injured, by Etotama Kagura Senguu, she retained parts of her memories and ended up with amnesia.

Appearances Edit

Pretty mode Edit

Character 01 img pretty In her pretty mode form, she wears a cat hat and her star decoration which now is gold and has no face. Her outfit changes a little. She now lacks her choker and the bell replaces the star in her ribbon/necktie. She also lacks the large yellow ribbon behind her. Rather than her blue and white socks and brown shoes, she wears blue and white boots with green cat-paw prints at the bottom.

Manga Edit

ETM Cha00 Nyaa-tan's appearance in the manga is the same as in the anime.

Trivia Edit

  • Nyaa-tan usually ends her sentences with "Nya".
  • She likes curry.
  • She is quite good at shogi, as Takeru taught her.
  • Her star decoration sometimes mimics her face.
  • "Nyaa" means "meow" in Japanese. So her her name basically means "Meow-tan" in English.
  • According to the description of ETOTAMA Sticker 1 for Line, it is believed that the star on her hair is called Hoshinoko, which can simply mean "the star child".
  • Nyaa-tan trying to find a character type alludes to the fact that there's no "cat" in the Eastern Zodiac, and as such, no exact personality like the other zodiacs (Ox= smart, patient; etc).
